Female CYP Refuge Support Worker

We are looking for a female Children and Young Persons Support Worker to work as part of our refuge team, where you will provide support, advice and assistance to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse, who are staying in the refuge.

You will assess the needs of children and young people on an individual basis in relation to their experiences of domestic abuse and provide appropriate individual support, and to work in conjunction with adult support workers to assess the whole family and to provide appropriate support to adult victims and their children. You will also act as an advocate for children, attending school, court and child protection case conferences where required.

Female Children and Young Persons Community Advocates

We are also excited to offer 2 roles for female Children and Young Persons Community Advocates. The purpose of the roles are to deliver and develop support services for children and young people aged up to 16 years who have experienced domestic abuse, to ensure their safety and emotional well-being. To operate in accordance with best practice and within the policies and procedures of FFFA.

The main purpose of the roles will be to:

Assess the needs of children and young people on an individual basis about their experiences of domestic abuse and provide appropriate individual support.

To deliver and support the dedicated Advocacy Service for children and young people to enable them to express their views on matters important to them and issues which affect their lives.

To provide independent and confidential advocacy to support children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.

Increase community awareness and dialogue around domestic abuse to reduce stigma and promote a culture of support and prevention.

Focus on breaking the cycle of abuse by offering targeted programs for children exposed to domestic abuse, providing them with the skills and support needed to overcome trauma and achieve their potential.

Deliver age-appropriate workshops on topics such as healthy relationships, emotional resilience, and conflict resolution, equipping individuals with the tools to avoid abusive situations.

To work in conjunction with adult support workers to assess the whole family and to provide appropriate support to adult survivors and their children.

To develop and deliver a programme of activities and events to assist children in overcoming the negative effects of domestic abuse.

To act as an advocate for children, attending school, court and child protection case conferences where required.
